On Wednesday, L’Equip‘s team organised an evening of dream pop, featuring the German band Roller Derby and local act Drug Holiday. Judging by the huge crowd that turned up at the Vol venue, where the ‘Sold Out’ sign was on display, the event was a resounding success.

Drug Holiday opened the evening with a setlist of tracks from their debut album, Treatment Interruption (2024). With a blend of styles that sometimes recalled 1980s synth/electro-pop, only to introduce hints of punk moments later, the band, led by Daniel Marín, delivered a polished performance that suggests a promising future.

The German duo, Philine Meyer (vocals) and Manuel Romero Soria (guitar), followed them and spent the evening performing almost the entirety of their latest album, When the Night Comes (2025). Gradually picking up the tempo with captivating Beach House-style melodies, their sound brimmed with tracks such as ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Your Love Is a Lie’. However, it was an older track like ‘Always on My Mind’, with its much more danceable beat, that proved to be the highlight of the night. Their final song, the melancholic ‘Goodbye’, was also a huge hit.
