The New York band The Strokes have just confirmed that they will be performing at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona in October. This will be their only Spanish date as part of their tour to promote their long-awaited seventh studio album, Reality Awaits (2026). The concert will see the return of Julian Casablancas and Albert Hammond Jr.’s band to a non-festival venue in Barcelona for the first time in 23 years. The last time they performed at such a venue was during the Room on Fire tour in 2003, at the Pavelló de la Vall d’Hebron.
The concert is part of the band’s world tour to promote their first album in six years, Reality Awaits (2026), the follow-up to The New Abnormal (2020). The album is due to be released on 26 June. The album will feature nine tracks and was recorded in Costa Rica with the band’s long-standing collaborator, Rick Rubin.
The tour, which will feature Thundercat, Cage The Elephant, Hamilton Leithauser, Fat White Family, Alex Cameron or ÖLÜM as special support acts, will kick off on 12 June, visiting up to 16 cities across the US and Canada over the summer. It will then head to Japan (Tokyo and Osaka) in August before arriving in Europe in October: England, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. After Italy, The Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona will be next on 20 October., followed by three more concerts in France and England, before the tour concludes on 28 October in Dublin (Ireland).
Tickets for the Barcelona concert will go on sale this week. Pre-sale tickets will be available to SMusic customers from 10.00 am on Wednesday 15 April, followed by the Live Nation pre-sale from 10.00 am on Thursday 16 April. Tickets will be available to the general public via Live Nation, Ticketmaster and El Corte Inglés from Friday 17 April at 10.00 am.
