The Lords of Altamont – 7 May 2026 (Sala Upload – Barcelona)

13 May 20262 min read

Amidst all the speculation about whether this is definitely the farewell tour for the American band The Lords of Altamont, they lit up the Sala Upload in Barcelona with an unforgettable garage rock concert, mainly showcasing their new album Forever Loaded (2026).

Despite the poor sound quality, which drowned out the vocals and Jake Cavaliere’s Farfisa, the LA band opened with the furious “Got a Hold on Me”, declaring war on the audience from the very first riff. Songs such as ‘Rusty Guns’ and ‘Get Out of My Head’ from their latest album bridged the gap between their new material and their classic anthems, while Cavaliere played his organ with pure punk attitude.

The Californians’ experience shone through in an unstoppable crescendo, with precise management of the tension. Classics such as ‘Going Downtown‘, the ‘Action/$4.95’ medley and the fast-paced ‘Live Fast’ lifted the night, with Dani Sindaco delivering an electrifying guitar performance and Rob Zimmermann commanding the bass with an imposing presence. The addition of a psychedelic touch by ‘Cyclone’ made their visceral rock ‘n’ roll unique, winning over a crowd given to controlled chaos.

The encores were a masterstroke: ‘Like a Bird‘ and ‘Velvet‘ set the scene for the dark ‘Twisted Black’ from the new album, which took them out of their comfort zone. The Lords of Altamont reject nostalgia; their 2026 tour of Spain is all about petrol and endless open roads. Jake and his group of guys wearing patches prove that garage rock isn’t dying out just yet. Who knows if we’ll ever see them around this city again?
