Bodega + BAF – 9 September 2026 (Sala Upload – Barcelona)

15 September 20263 min read

On 9 September, Barcelona’s Sala Upload became the epicentre of a sonic earthquake, with a headline performance from New York band BODEGA and BAF. The Brooklyn quintet, renowned for their blend of post-punk and art rock, were there to showcase tracks from their upcoming fourth album, All Inside Aquarium (2026). Expectations were sky-high, and the almost full venue erupted from the moment the first chord was struck.

The evening began with a performance by BAF, a young quartet from Mallorca who proved that the future of post-punk in Spain is in safe hands. Drawing comparisons with bands such as Mission of Burma, Minutemen and Wire, BAF delivered a powerful and daring set. The band’s singer, with his contortionist-like movements and wails in Mallorcan, captivated the audience, while the rock-solid rhythm section underpinned their sound.

But the highlight of the evening was BODEGA. Led by Ben Hozie and Nikki Belfiglio, the quintet took to the stage with infectious energy. Their hour-and-a-half setlist took the audience on a journey through their career, featuring both early hits and tracks from their upcoming album. The crowd went wild for songs such as ‘Shiny New People‘, “Territorial Call of the Female“, “Thrown” or “Tarkovski“, during which the band really let loose. A mosh pit was sparked by the trio of hardcore tracks comprising “Monthly Follower”, “Quantify” and “Show the Scaffolding”, which further fired up the crowd.

We were treated to previews of four new tracks from All Inside Aquarium: “Literary World”, “Pick Up The Check” and “Weather Me”. The setlist also featured the title track, “All Inside Aquarium”. There was also time for a few surprises, such as the fantastic cover of Bob Dylan‘s ‘Slow Train‘.

The end of the concert was absolutely wild, with encores including “How Did This Happen?!” (played twice, the second time in the correct key), as well as ‘I Am Not a Cinephile‘. BODEGA proved once again that they are one of the most exciting and dynamic bands on the current scene. Their Barcelona concert was a celebration of music, energy and irreverence — a real treat for post-punk fans!.
