Despite our best efforts to reach out <strong>Black Contry, New Road<\/strong>, TMB people were determined to cause a slight delay to all means of transport from Cornell\u00e0 to the Parc del Forum, <strong>so we settled for one of our favourite national artists, Joe Crep\u00fasculo.<\/strong>. As usual, <strong>it was a complete madness, with catchy choruses and dancing everywhere<\/strong>, including some Brits who were surprised by Sant Joan Desp\u00ed&#8217;s proposal. The Leeds-based band have emerged as one of the most recognisable names in the new British post-punk scene, although their music is closer to the pop of the Happy Mondays than the pretensions of the Idles or Fontaines D.C. <em>Theirs was a discreet live performance, lacking in power both in the guitars and in the singer&#8217;s voice<\/em>, which lost quite a lot of presence compared to what they showed on their album. In their defence, the new Ron Brugal stage, which was supposed to be one of the main attractions of the festival, sounded excessively weak every day&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15753 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ghost-Primavera_Sound_Barcelona_2023.jpg\" alt=\"Ghost Primavera Sound Barcelona 2023\" width=\"643\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ghost-Primavera_Sound_Barcelona_2023.jpg 643w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ghost-Primavera_Sound_Barcelona_2023-300x249.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 9px;\">Photo of <strong>Ghost<\/strong> taken from the band&#8217;s official Facebook page<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Back on the Amazon stage, and in a stylistic 180\u00ba turn, it was time to see live the Swedish band <strong>Ghost<\/strong>, hard rock and heavy metal mainstays known worldwide for their aesthetics and incredible live shows. The band from Baltimore <strong>Turnstile<\/strong> had already left us waiting for more in 2022 when they cancelled their gig at Primavera Sound with just a week to go, and after their huge media explosion over the past 12 months, the desire for live performances of their songs has grown exponentially. And boy did they deliver! <strong>Theirs was one of the great concerts of this edition<\/strong>, starting with the synthesiser lines \u201c<em>MYSTERY<\/em>\u201d to in just over 30 minutes almost finish their incredible third album <em>Glow On<\/em> (2021), with special mention to the concatenation of hits such as \u201c<em>UNDERWATER BOI<\/em>\u201d, \u201c<em>DON&#8217;T PLAY<\/em>\u201d and its pounding drums or \u201c<em>FLY AGAIN<\/em>\u201d. After an eternal drum solo, it was time for a brief dip into their two previous albums, enjoying the more punk side of tracks such as \u201c<em>Gravity<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>Drop<\/em>\u201d. <strong>With a powerful and surprisingly crisp sound, and thanks to the presence of its magnetic vocalist Brendan Yates<\/strong>The concert ends almost imperceptibly with the slowed-down<em>&#8220;ALIEN LOVE CALL&#8221;<\/em>, although there would still be time for two more hardcore tracks like<em>&#8220;HOLIDAY&#8221;<\/em>and<em>&#8220;BLACKOUT&#8221;<\/em>, perfect end to a great concert.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15755 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/REMA-Primavera_Sound_Barcelona_2023_Eric_Pamies.jpg\" alt=\"REMA - Primavera Sound Barcelona 2023 - Eric Pamies\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/REMA-Primavera_Sound_Barcelona_2023_Eric_Pamies.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/REMA-Primavera_Sound_Barcelona_2023_Eric_Pamies-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/REMA-Primavera_Sound_Barcelona_2023_Eric_Pamies-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 9px;\">Photo of <strong>Rema<\/strong> by <a href=\"http:\/\/ericpamies.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eric P\u00e0mies<\/a>, courtesy of the organisation of Primavera Sound 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Taking advantage of the proximity and looking for a bit of a break, we moved to the side to see <strong>Anderson .Paak<\/strong>&#8216;s new project, <strong>Nxworries<\/strong>. <strong>Their mix of r&#8217;n&#8217;b and soul with more modern rhythms failed to catch on with the general public, who remained impassive for a good part of the show.<\/strong> Something similar happened to us, and we decided to seize the moment and make one of those typical Primavera Sound visits to discover artists. Near the solar panel, we were treated to the spectacle of one of the new British sensations, <strong>PinkPantheress<\/strong>,  <strong>whose concert was rather flat and lacking in any real power<\/strong>, as if it were a direct transmission from the artist herself, who moves across the stage in slow motion with incredible fluidity. In front of an audience full of compatriots, she performed some songs from her first album <em>To hell with it<\/em> (2021), with a slightly accelerated version of &#8220;<em>Boy&#8217;s a liar<\/em>&#8221; standing out. A few metres away, on the Amazon stage, the Nigerian <strong>Rema<\/strong> and his Afrobeat (impossible to forget it after the thousand times he repeated it on stage) managed to do the opposite, <strong>moving even some of the living corpses that were already swarming around the venue<\/strong>. With the new song \u201c<em>St Charles Square<\/em>\u201d as a cover letter, <strong>an energetic Damon Albarn kicked off a first part<\/strong> in which we were able to enjoy hits like &#8220;<em>There&#8217;s No Other Way<\/em>\u201d or \u201c<em>Beetlebum<\/em>\u201d on the other hand, or on the other hand, he gave us songs for the very fans like \u201c<em>Popscene<\/em>\u201d, \u201c<em>Tracy Jacks<\/em>\u201d the great and now distant \u201c<em>Villa Rosie<\/em>\u201d. Without pausing for breath, the band launched into the carnival jam session that is \u201c<em>Intermission<\/em>\u201d, in order to face the last part of the concert with the marvellous \u201c<em>This is a low<\/em>\u201d (in my opinion the best song of the concert), the Messianic \u201c<em>Tender<\/em>\u201d, the new song \u201c<em>The narcissist<\/em>\u201d and a great finish with the subtlety and emotion of \u201c<em>The universal<\/em>\u201d. To sum up,<strong> we all want to have fun and be happy. What are you waiting for if you want to see Blur live?<\/strong> A setlist like the one on this tour, wit<strong>h choruses sung at the top of your lungs in front of thousands of people<\/strong>, reminds you of when you were the weirdo of the class in the mid-90s, with your Adidas jacket and dishevelled bangs&#8230; <strong>To confirm the nostalgia, we will always have the phrase uttered by Damon Albarn himself towards the end of his show &#8221; <em>I&#8217;m so happy to be back with my old friends<\/em>&#8220;<\/strong> &#8211; how things change when thousands of weirdos get together!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like every year at this time, and Despite spending much of the year complaining about overcrowding, ticket prices and saturation of the city, we faithfully returned to the Parc del Forum in Barcelona to continue the musical idyll (which is all that matters at the end of the day) with Primavera Sound festival..
