{"id":2616,"date":"2015-10-09T20:48:08","date_gmt":"2015-10-09T18:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indieofilo.com\/?p=2616"},"modified":"2023-11-21T14:20:49","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T13:20:49","slug":"the-vaccines-8th-october-2015-melkweg-amsterdam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/en\/gig-reviews\/the-vaccines-8th-october-2015-melkweg-amsterdam","title":{"rendered":"The Vaccines \u2013 8th October 2015 (Melkweg \u2013 Amsterdam)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\tJust three months after visiting the Netherlands <a href=\"http:\/\/indieofilo.com\/gig-reviews\/best-kept-secret-festival-20th-june-2015-hilvarenbeek?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at the Best Kept Secret Festival 2015<\/a>, <strong>The Vaccines<\/strong> returned this time to Amsterdam Concert Hall <strong>Melkweg <\/strong>to present finally in a concert hall their third studio album, <em>English&nbsp;Graffiti<\/em>, having also the support of one of the recent British indie sensations,<strong> Kid Wave<\/strong>, as supporting band.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The Vaccines - Melkweg Amsterdam 2015\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2613\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-12.jpg\" style=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-12.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-12-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-12-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\tLondon&#39;s band was responsible for opening the night to defend their second album <em>Wonderlust<\/em>, which has been welcomed in the islands. For a little over 30 minutes, <strong>Lea <\/strong><strong>Emmery<\/strong>&#39;s band offered a show focused mainly on this LP, with a few exceptions in the setlist as &quot;<em>Gloom<\/em>&quot; or &quot;<em>All I Want<\/em>&quot;. Their concert was somewhat disappointing for the excessive volume of <strong>Serra Petale<\/strong> on the choirs the lack of energy and little connexion with the public that was at the room, looking like &nbsp;a watered version and meaningless between <strong>Lush <\/strong>and <strong>The Breeders<\/strong>. Only those times when distortions in the guitars were the protagonists and the end with the great song that gives title to the album, &quot;<em>Wonderlust&quot;<\/em>, were escaped from the carnage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Kid Wave - Melkweg Amsterdam 2015\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2598\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Kid-Wave-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-3.jpg\" style=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Kid-Wave-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Kid-Wave-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Kid-Wave-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-3-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\tAfter a too long period of waiting (about 45 minutes), the stars of the evening appeared on stage as a cyclone chaining in just over 10 minutes five great songs like &quot;<em>Handsome<\/em>&quot;, &quot;<em>Wreckin Bar (Ra Ra Ra)<\/em>&quot;, &quot;<em>Ghost Town<\/em>&quot;, &quot;<em>Dream Lover<\/em>&quot; and &quot;<em>Wetsuit<\/em>&quot;. After a short slowdown caused by songs that show the most docile side of the band, that in who they try to approach album after album to the worse <strong>The Strokes<\/strong> playing &quot;<em>Minimal Affection<\/em>&quot;, &quot;<em>Tiger Blood<\/em>&quot; or &quot;<em>Bad Mood<\/em>&quot;, the public soon vibrated again as soon as the guitars of <strong>Freddie Cowan<\/strong> and <strong>Pete Robertson<\/strong>&#39;s drums gained special prominence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Kid Wave - Amsterdam 2015 Melkweg\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2614\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-13.jpg\" style=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-13.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-13-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.indieofilo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/The-Vaccines-Melkweg-Amsterdam-2015-13-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\tIn a journey throughout their discography we could enjoy hits like &quot;<em>Post Break-Up Sex<\/em>&quot;, the new &quot;<em>Give Me a Sign<\/em>&quot; or &quot;<em>Teenage Icon<\/em>&quot;, which served as great warm-up for an apotheosis on the last 10 minutes in which more than half of the room jumped and danced to accelerated versions of &quot;<em>20\/20<\/em>&quot;, &quot;<em>I Always Knew<\/em>&quot;, &quot;<em>If You Wanna<\/em>&quot; or &quot;<em>All In White<\/em>&quot;.
